Canteen
The canteen is open at the following times:
Breakfast: 8.15am-8.40am
Break: 11.00am-11.20am
Lunch: 1.20pm-1.55pm
We operate a cashless system in the school canteen facilitated by ParentPay. The school does not accept cash and there are no onsite facilities to top up canteen accounts.
School dinner money needs to be added via ParentPay before 10.00am to allow students to be able to buy lunch on the same day.
There is a default daily spend limit of £3.50 and no food costing above that limit can be bought. This limit can only be changed by emailing school@friern.barnet.sch.uk.
Free School Meals
If parents/carers believe that their child may qualify for Free School Meals then please submit a claim using the Free School Meal Checker: Free School Meals Checker
Have your National Insurance number or Home Office number ready when you apply.
Once you have applied, parents/carers and the office team will be notified if your child is eligible for Free School Meals.
Once Free School Meals is approved
The system will allow £2.96 for your child to be credited to their current cash balance on a daily basis. However, any under spend or missed lunch will be identified by the system and will not be added to the next day’s balance. This applies only to students entitled to free meals.
Parents can also add extra cash to their ParentPay account, to enable a greater daily spend on a student’s school lunch than allocated by their free meal allowance.
