Enhanced Arts Programme
Each year the school admits up to ten percent of its intake in Year 7 according to aptitude and potential in Music, Dance or Drama and Musical Theatre. These students are selected for an enhanced programme of arts enrichment and tuition in addition to their studies of National Curriculum subjects. The programme encompasses specific extended workshops, visits to venues and events of artistic importance as well as regular free provision of additional lessons in a chosen discipline.
The purpose of the selection process is to identify those pupils who have the greatest potential to excel in their specialism, or in a combination of arts skills. Past experience and any accreditations will be taken into account but are not essential. We look for the most talented who, in some cases, may not have had the opportunities previously to demonstrate their talent. We are, therefore, selecting according to raw aptitude and potential.
Students are considered for entry through an audition workshop which takes place in the year preceding entry. For more details on the programme and to begin the entry process, please read through the information available on our Admissions page.
