GCSE skills:

  • To be able to apply geographical concepts
  • To recall and understand key terms, features, processes and locational case studies
  • Interpretation and analysis of graphs, data and photos
  • To be able to describe and explain patterns or geographical concepts
  • To explain and assess how physical processes and human activities influence the human and physical world
  • To explain and assess social, economic, environmental and political (SEEP) impacts in the developing and developed world
  • To assess, evaluate and justify geographical concepts, themes and events

 

By the end of year 9, students should be able to:

  • Explain how concepts can be applied at regional and global level
  • Further develop techniques to understand and recall key terms, features, processes and locational case studies
  • Analyse and start to interpret graphs, data and photos
  • Describe and begin to explain patterns and geographical themes
  • Explain how processes and activities influence how the geographical worlds interact
  • Explain and compare how SEEP differs in the developing and developed world
  • Weigh up and justify geographical decisions and regional conflicts

 

By the end of year 8, students should be able to:

Investigate how concepts can be applied at regional and global level
Develop techniques to understand and recall key terms, features, processes and locational case studies
Describe and start to explain information in graphs, data sets and photos
Describe geographical patters and themes
Describe how processes and activities influence how the geographical worlds interact
Explain how social, economic and environmental impacts differ in either an MEDC or LEDC
 

By the end of year 7, students should be able to:

  • Describe concepts on a regional and global level
  • Investigate methods of organising information to assist in recall
  • Create and describe graphs and understand data and photos
  • Introduce and identify geographical patterns
  • Identify the three geographical worlds
  • Identify SEE impacts
  • Explain what is a region and identify issues
  • Accurately complete at least one PEEL paragraph and come to a conclusion
