By the end of year 9, students should be able to:

  • Demonstrate physical skills with confidence and consistency
  • Use technical skills in choreography and evaluate their success
  • Perform in dances using a range of mental skills in a sound manner
  • Perform in dances using a range of expressive skills in a sound manner
  • Understand the effects of safe practice and implement them
  • Choreograph dances using some processes to produce a sound outcome
  • Choreograph dances using some devices and have a sound understanding of these
  • Identify and discuss all production features, forming own opinions
  • Use dance vocabulary to produce a sound spoken/written response
      

By the end of year 8, students should be able to: 

  • Demonstrate physical skills with some confidence
  • Use some technical skills in choreography
  • Perform in dances using some mental skills
  • Perform in dances using some expressive skills
  • Understand the effects of safe practice and apply these most of the time
  • Choreograph dances using some processes including research
  • Choreograph dances using some devices to produce a sound outcome
  • Identify and appreciate choreography and production features
  • Use dance vocabulary to produce a sound response
     

By the end of year 7, students should be able to: 

  • Demonstrate 5 physical skills with some confidence
  • Use R.A.D.S in choreography
  • Perform in dances using a few of these skills
  • Perform in dances using a few expressive skills
  • Have some understanding of safe practice and can apply these
  • Choreograph dances using a few of these processes
  • Choreograph dances using a few devices
  • Identify some production features in choreography
  • Use some dance vocabulary to produce a limited response
