Introduction

Welcome to the Geography Department section of the Friern Barnet Schools website.  We aim to provoke and answer questions about the natural and human worlds, using different scales of enquiry to view them from different perspectives. This aims to develop knowledge of places and environments throughout the world. We use enquiry based investigations that enhance problem solving skills both in and outside the classroom thereby preparing pupils for the world. Geography explores the issues of development and sustainability, how countries work within their environments. Our pupils study geography of different societies and cultures and this can help them realise how nations rely on each other. We hope to inspire pupils to think about their own place in the world, their values and their rights and responsibilities to other people in the environment.
