Musicians' Development Programme

In conjunction with the music department and a strong team of peripatetic staff, we run an extensive programme of one-to-one instrumental development. Whether they have played before or not, all students in the school have the opportunity to sign up for lessons in an instrument of their choice, working regularly with a specialist tutor during school hours. They undertake this first as a term-long short course and then extend it far as they like.

At present we offer tuition in the following areas:

  • Brass (French horn, tuba, trumpet, trombone)
  • Percussion (Drum kit)
  • Guitar (Electric, bass, classical, acoustic)
  • Keys (Electric keyboard, piano)
  • Strings (Cello, viola, violin)
  • Voice (Classical, contemporary or theatre singing)
  • Woodwind (Flute, bassoon, oboe, saxophone, clarinet)

All students on the programme have the opportunity to perform in the concerts twice a year, as well as countless other performances in a wide variety of settings. They can also extend their personal learning by joining one of our ensembles be it the string group, wind band, rock band and one of the choirs.

Please note, the closing date for lessons for the spring term was 10 December 2019. Please contact the Creative Arts department or email for further information of future dates.
