The VTCT Level 2 Certificate in Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy qualification has been developed for students aged 14-16 with an interest in Hairdressing and/or Beauty Therapy. The course is a two year programme which aims to support students to:

Although this course is a theory based course a practical lesson will be given once a cycle to help learners develop their practical skills in providing various treatments.
The course is delivered through a blend of the following: theory classes (70%), practical lessons (30%) including demonstrations, role play exercises and group work. The course is equivalent to 1 x GCSE.
The course is assessed through internally assessed and externally moderated assignments. 25% of this qualification is subject to external assessment and externally set and externally marked written examination (1 hour 30 mins online examination). Each unit within this qualification has specified assessment and marking criteria which are used for grading purposes. A grading model of pass, merit or distinction is used.
Students’ behaviour will also count towards their assessment, in terms of maturity, development, interaction and communication.
