YEAR 7

year 7 display

 

Students are involved in six projects over their first year at FBS. We start with the topic ‘Pure imagination’, a Roald Dahl project across performing arts which culminates in a performance to friends and family. Other projects include Storytelling, Silent movies, Greek theatre and a devised unit at the end of the year where students get to showcase all of their skills in their own creation. During the year students are introduced to basic Drama skills and terminology.

Students are encouraged to work supportively and creatively with all other students and are asked to offer help and advice to their peers at all times.

  

YEAR 8

During Year 8, students develop and extend the skills they learned in Year 7. We tackle more complex contemporary issues, such as Homelessness, Peer pressure and Bullying. We explore the script of "The Terrible Fate of Humpty Dumpty" and bring to life various fairy tales and explore naturalism and characterisation whilst examining Soap Operas.

Throughout the year, students are expected to continue their support of each other during group work and peer assessment.

YEAR 9

During Year 9 students are guided through projects which reflect the challenges of GCSE Drama. Topics covered include Mark Wheeler’s ‘Too Much Punch for Judy’, Brecht and Stanislavski. Pupils are encouraged to extend their written skills, keeping an analytical diary which deepens their understanding of dramatic art forms and prepares them for the demands of the GCSE.
